4 years ago, in one of my silly moments, I penned this parody, hoping to record it one day and dedicate it to all my S'porean friends overseas. Anyway, to all of you overseas, wishing you a blessed National Day and always remember where home is!
Whenever I am feeling low
I look around me and I know
There is food that will stay within me
wherever I may choose to go
I will always recall the city
Know every street and stall
Walk down the lanes that bring us life
Winding through my Singapore
This is home truly
Laksa and bak chor mee
Where prata waits for me
And the curry always flows
This is home surely
Durian senses tell me
This is where I won't be alone
For this is where
I know it's home
When there is hunger to go through
We'll find a way to make char siew
There is comfort in the knowledge
That home's about its cuisine too
So we'll have steamboat together
Teh Tarik midnight to four
Satay bee hoon until it's five
There'll always be Singapore

Char Kuay teow, Wan ton mee
Where satay waits for me
And the sauces always flow
This is home surely
